Sgt. 1st Class Calvin Harrison, a Special Forces medical sergeant with the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), was killed in action on September 29 during a combat operation in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan. He was 31 years old.
Born in Cleveland, Texas, Calvin graduated from Jones High School in Coldspring and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1998 as a psychological operations specialist. He served with the 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) before earning his Green Beret in 2007 and transitioning to the Special Forces as an 18D medical sergeant.
Calvin brought life-saving expertise and leadership to the battlefield, serving with distinction in some of the most demanding roles in the Army. His training included the Special Forces Qualification Course, Basic Airborne, and the Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Course. His career was marked by multiple deployments and exemplary service, recognized through numerous awards, including the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Special Forces Tab.
For his heroism, Calvin was posthumously awarded the Silver Star, a second Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal. Calvin’s legacy lives on through the lives he saved, the teammates he led, and the family he loved.
