2016 Ride for the Fallen
The 2016 Ride For The Fallen saw our largest rider participation to date, with seven riders making the cross country journey. We also had the honor of being joined by two Gold Star families during the ride. Both Ally McClintock and Bob Kaiser made the 4,500 mile journey. Ally helped with support truck and merchandise booth as she honored her husband Matthew McClintock. Bob rode his brand new Harley Davidson Trike the entire trip as he honored his son Andrew Pedersen-Keel. Bob also continued even farther from Arlington, VA riding his bike all the way home to Connecticut! Please visit http://www.apkcharities.org and https://mcclintockfoundation.org/ to learn more about Andrew and Matthew.
We kicked off events by making an unplanned stop in Long Beach, CA to visit with the Gold Star mother of Matt and Andrew Harvell. The team went back to San Diego, CA to formally kick off the 2016 ride. From San Diego the team made stops in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Along the team encounters heat, rain, hail, and the warmth of the American people along the way. The team spent a few days in Colorado Springs resting at REST Float Solutions with team mate and friend, J-Buck. As the team got close to Dallas, TX we were made aware of the recent passing of Irving Police Officer Mark Dahl. We decided to join forces with our law enforcement brothers and honor Office Dahl at our event in Dallas, TX. After Dallas the team pushed east with an event in Florida. The team was able to receive a tour of the EXOS facility in Navarre Beach, FL where Special Operations members are sent for physical rehabilitation. The team headed north for a rest stop in Atlanta, GA where we met with team mate and friend, Ethan W. Ethan was kind enough to get the teams body reset with a quick freeze at Ice Box Cryotherapy. The team headed north with events in Columbia, SC and Fayetteville, NC. The culminating event was held at Arlington National Cemetery as the team, families, and friends visited our fallen’s final resting place.
Thanks to all of our friends, family, and supporters who make this journey possible every year! We will see you next year on the road!
