2014 Ride for the Fallen

The idea to form Coast X Coast began with two members of the U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Berets) as a way to memorialize and honor their friend, Ryan Savard. The support and help they received spawned action to get The Ride For The Fallen up and running. The ride kicked off in Santa Rosa, CA. The bike of choice for the first year was a 1974 BMW R90. Cris V. rode to San Diego, CA for the official start for the journey heading east. In Arizona the team was able to meet with Ryan’s family. Exchanging stories with Ryan’s family was definitely the highlight of the trip! Dallas was the next stop. The team was joined by a member of the Danish Special Forces in Dallas who knew Ryan Savard. He stuck with the team the rest of the trip. There were more stops in Florida and Georgia. Corporate sponsor and friend Tom Mullikin hosted the team in Camden, SC. The ride culminated with a huge gathering of Ryan’s friends and teammates in Aberdeen, NC. The love and support that was experienced during the trip was all that was needed to start planning what would become and annual event for Coast X Coast.
